Its been an extreamly busy week this past week, and I've been meaning to post here about the Pickering WWII War Weekend. What a wonderful experience it is to attend. Not just an adult event lots of children took part in the dressing up too! Fantastic for a day out if you can't make the full weekend, just milling around listening to chatter and song from days gone by, watching all those glamourous Ladies and Gents in their vintage finery, which has inspired me no end I can tell you. I have so many ideas rushing around my head its almost making me giddy.

The main High Street was absolutely heaving with people and I think what makes it more special is that there is a mix of both modern day with the spirit of the war years. I loved the chap who was dressed up as a child with his labels and gas mask, dressed up with his partner also in her vintage finery possibly as his mum. As each chap in uniform walked by he asked, " Are you me dad?".... My hubby and I met some lovely Irish lads in the pub, but where else hey, they dropped into Pickering on a recommendation and said that they had never seen anything like this event, whereby lots of people embraced the atmosphere and celebration of the weekend and did their bit to make it pretty much a step back in time. As they prepared to camp up in Goathland the local's let them stay in the village hall, how very accomodating was that typically British I should say. These chaps did a lot of re-enactments all over Ireland and Britain with military attire and weaponary, although they didn't bring their tanks and guns this time, but deffinately said they would be returning next year.

I can see this event getting bigger and better every year, we're looking now for next years dates, so we can book up early. there was so much we didn't do this year, the tea dance's which I think took place on the Friday and Saturday night's in the school hall, there are other things happening too in the local villages. Most if not all the pubs have something for everyone to join in with, sing-a-longs to old 40's WWII songs. The music is happening all day long in the streets too with people finding a spot for a little public dancing.

My only criticism was finding an itinerary of what was on/happening and where was most difficult! we arrived just a little too late to see the procession through Pickering...please organisers could you hold on next year, many of us found parking a bit difficult especially when your not used to the area. My advise here would be allow plenty of time and get there well before ten thirty!
Can't wait for this event next year..
'til we meet again...x

Woosh! the first half of this week gone already. What a busy time I've had since my last post. I'm trying to beat the Royal Mail Crash before they hold us all to ransom.

I've been busy putting the finishing touches to Commisioned Corsets, also The Faux Furs, which I might say have had a very well recieved reaction to a lot of you Glamorous Ladies out there. I am willing to post samples of this faux fur because I think Once you have felt the Quality of it you'll fall in love. Perfect for those Christmas Parties and New Years Eve Dances we'll all be going to.

Today something new to work on, I'm creating a lovely 1940's dress for a Lady who's attending the Pickering WWII weekend this weekend. Because its not far from me I think myself and the darling husband will pop over on Saturday to watch the parade's and just generally watch people milling around. Its quite a sureal experience as you have people in ordinary modern day dress but many dress in 1940's fashion. If you recognise me do pop over and say hello.

Hi all its early I know, but then I have loads to do today. First of all I'd like to let you all know that finally I've uploaded those new Faux Furs I've been promising you all. I was going to put the website http://www.divinetitillation.com/ under construction whilst I did it, but no need now as all is done.

This morning I'm off again to do yet more posting, but then I'm creating the most gorgeous military style corset for a lady in Dorset, I'm really looking forward to my work today. I'm probably one of the luckiest people I know getting to create and make different bespoke garments everyday.

cheery 'O' for now X
